The air is cold and thick inside the chapel of the Sovereigns, the colors appearing washed out by the light fog. Inside are the only signs you've seen of life in Cyre... a burned and mutilated young boy, a little girl with a stone tongue, and a beautiful Cyran priestess of the Silver Flame.
Sophia and Rishaan remain outside, talking, while the Dantus brothers have headed inside to meet what appears to be the only survivors of the village.

Jarot can’t help but smile as he watches the hope shatter from the woman’s eyes. Hope was a silly thing, it was the coward’s way of dealing with struggles and challenges, rather than just accepting them and overcoming them. It didn’t bother him that she would likely find “hope” again in the next undead Cyran legion they stumbled across, she could throw herself into their midst for all he cared, what was troubling was that Khale would throw himself in after her a moment later.
“Rasher, why don’t you gather up any supplies you can find in here?” Jarot motioned towards the back of the chapel before turning on the shattered flame worshipper.
“Priestess, if we’re going to escape this place we need to know where we are,” he explained rather bluntly, “Any information you have on the area will be helpful, but most importantly, we need to know how close the Brelish border is.”

"Yes, sir." The heavy iron construct stamps off into the chapel's hallways to go find anything useful.
"The Brelish border?" Arriana starts. "What are you saying...?"

Jarot’s obvious exasperation is like that of a frustrated parent scolding a child, “You think it’s just this village? All of Cyre has suffered the same fate or worse, we were assaulting Kenrunn when it occurred, so far as I know you’re the only one in our lands to survive unscathed.”
His eyes drift to her silver symbol of the flame and then briefly towards his brother as if to share his suspicion with him.
“Breland was untouched, the mists carved a neat path along our borders with accuracy most cartographers would envy,” Jarot continued even though that was more conjecture and gut feeling than fact, “The other nations are safe while Cyre has become a twisted mockery of its former self, and if you want to stay unscathed we need to leave our homeland behind and make for the closest border.”

The aching of her bones never subsided, and was only made worse by having nothing to do. The echoing sounds of the warforged's heavy footsteps heading deeper into the chapel was not exactly a comfort, and Sophia got up from her seat on the steps, and marched into the chapel. Before entering, she paused, looking back, as a tiny ectoplasmic puppy appeared on the steps. "Rowdie, you stand gaurd and bark if you see anything," she instructed him before heading into the chapel.
"What's the plan Jarot? Are they staying or going?" she asked in an annoyed and hurried tone. Her blade of energy waved about anxiously in her grasp at her side, as if waiting to break its own leash, and leave this god forsaken place.

"Well, if everyone's going in, I'm not staying out here alone," Rishaan murmured to no one in particular and stood up, letting a slow breath out her nose and stuffing her hands in her jacket pockets, "everyone is followed by terrible mind-bending horrors drawn from their nightmares, and I want to see them, too."
Swiftly moving along, she caught up to the warforged in the echoing halls and fell in line behind him.
